Keto Deviled Eggs with Everything Seasoning

Start by making this everything seasoning mix. You can use white or black sesame seeds. I use the white sesame seeds because the poppy seeds are dark and I like the look of the mixture with the two colors.

Ingredients for Everything Seasoning Mix:

  • Poppy seeds
  • White sesame seeds or a combination of white sesame seeds and black sesame seeds
  • Dried minced garlic
  • Dried minced onion
  • Flaked sea salt or course salt

Once you have the seasoning mix you can go on to creating these eggs.

Ingredients for Keto Deviled Eggs with Everything Seasoning

  • Hard boiled eggs – prepare your hard boiled eggs and allow them to cool fully once peeled. If you’ve ever made hard boiled eggs and struggled with getting the shell off then check out the tips below.
  • Mayonnaise – I use full fat mayonnaise.
  • Dijon mustard – I like using Dijon mustard over other types of mustard. The blend of mustard, vinegar and white wine makes deviled eggs even tastier.
  • Salt and Black Pepper – Add to your own personal taste but keep in mind that the seasoning mix already has salt in it.
  • Everything But The Bagel Seasoning Mix – this is a blend of poppyseeds, sesame seed, garlic, onion and salt.

Directions to make Keto Deviled Eggs:

Hard boil the eggs, allow them to cool and remove the shells. Slice the eggs in half and remove egg yolk.

In a bowl, mash the yolks with a fork. Mix in the mayonnaise, mustard and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Spoon or pipe the egg mixture into the eggs. Garnish with a sprinkle of Everything seasoning mix over the top of each hard boiled egg. Serve and enjoy.

How To Perfectly Boil An Egg

Let’s start with the part of making deviled eggs that most people ask about…. how to boil and peel them without having the shell stick and tear off pieces of the egg. I hate when that happens.

The best way to get easy peel eggs is to use older eggs. Keep any newly purchased eggs in the refrigerator 5 to 10 days before making hard boil eggs. These eggs will peel a bit easier than newly purchased eggs.

Now there are a variety of methods that you can follow to make perfect hard-boiled eggs. You can use the method where you bring the water to a boil first then add the eggs and remove after they have boiled for a certain amount of time. Personally I like this easier method for making hard boiled eggs.

Place the eggs in a large pot of water that is big enough to hold them in single layer. Add in enough cold water to cover the eggs by 1 inch.

Heat over high heat to a rolling boil. Once the water is boiling then remove the pan from the burner. Cover the pan and let the eggs sit in the hot water for about 15 minutes for extra large eggs, 12 minutes for large eggs and 9 minutes for medium eggs.

When the time is up drain the water out, cool them with cold running water or place them in an ice bath. Once cool, tap the egg on the edge of the pan and remove the shells. Refrigerate the eggs until needed.

If you’ve struggled with making hard boiled eggs that are perfectly done, with no green ring around the yolks and with shells that come off easily I suggest trying this method. You can also check out this video from The Incredible Egg website to see these steps in action.

Now that you have your hard boiled eggs you can begin to make these delicious keto Everything deviled eggs.

Are deviled eggs keto friendly?

Yes all of the ingredients in this recipe are keto friendly. If you choose to use low fat or fat free mayonnaise it will have additional carbs in it from the modified corn starch that they include to hold the mixture together. This can add up to 2 net carbs per tablespoon used.

To keep this these deviled eggs keto use regular mayonnaise.

Are deviled eggs healthy?

Yes deviled eggs are healthy!

Each egg contains 7 grams of high quality protein, iron, vitamins, minerals. carotenoids and antioxidants. Eggs contain choline which is an important and essential nutrient that is mainly obtained through your food (your liver makes small amounts). It helps with brain development, liver function, muscle movement and your metabolism. People don’t often get enough through the foods they eat and eggs can help provide this important nutrient.

What can I use in place of mayonnaise?

Deviled eggs are so versatile. You can mix in a wide range of ingredients into the egg yolk mixture to come up with delicious new deviled egg flavors.

Not a fan of mayonnaise? It’s usually called for in many deviled egg recipes but can be swapped out. Try using Greek yogurt or even sour cream in place of mayo.

The mustard in the recipe can also be swapped out. The mustard gives the yolk filling a bit of tang and, based on your egg mix-ins, this can be swapped out for other things. Try some hot sauce, lemon juice and even a bit of vinegar.

How do you fill the eggs?

You can either use a small spoon to scoop the filling into the egg whites.

Or my favorite way….use a sandwich bag or small plastic bag to make a piping bag. These pictures will give you an idea of how to easily use a sandwich or freezer bag to make a piping bag.

Take a sandwich bag and fold the edges down. Stick the bag into a mug or cup. This helps to hold the filling so you can get it all the way into one of the corners. Place the filling in the bag.

Fold the bag back up and give it a twist right above the filling. You are trying to get the filling down into one corner of the bag.

Once you have the piping bag ready then simply use scissors to cut the corner off. Don’t make a big cut or else this will allow a lot of filling to come out. Gently squeeze the filling into the eggs. As you squeeze the filling out twist the bag. This will keep pushing the filling down into the corner of the bag.

How to store and serve these deviled eggs:

Hard boiled, peeled eggs and the filling mix can be made 1 day in advance and stored in the refrigerator. Store the filling mix in a piping bag (important if using avocados in the mixture to keep it from going brown) or an airtight container. Spoon or pipe the filling into the white halves when you are ready to serve them.

Store any leftovers in the refrigerator in a covered container for up to 4 days.

Can deviled eggs be frozen?

No. Freezing hard boiled eggs will cause them to become rubbery and will make the filling mix watery. Make and use them within 7 days and store them in the refrigerator.

How long can you keep deviled eggs at room temperature?

Once you add the filling, deviled eggs can be prepared up to two hours in advance if sitting at room temperature. After that they should be refrigerated. If making and serving a large number of eggs at a party or gathering it is best to put some out to serve and keep some stored in the refrigerator until needed. Swap out trays are they are emptied so you don’t have a large number of deviled eggs sitting at room temperature for hours and hours.
