For this recipe start by making your hard boiled eggs. Check out this easy method to make hard-boiled eggs. If you ever struggle to peel a hard-boil egg without ripping all the egg whites off try this method.

Now there are a variety of methods that you can follow. Personally I like this easier method for making perfect hard-boiled eggs:

  1. Place the eggs in a saucepan that is just large enough to hold them in single layer. Add in enough cold water to cover the eggs by 1 inch. Heat over high heat until just to boiling.
  2. Once the water is boiling then remove the pan from the burner. Cover the pan and let the eggs sit in the hot water for about 15 minutes for extra large eggs, 12 minutes for large eggs and 9 minutes for medium eggs.
  3. When the time is up drain the water out, cool them with cold running water or place them in an ice bath. Once cool remove the shells and refrigerate until needed.

Ingredients for Bacon Ranch Deviled Eggs Recipe

  • Crumbled Bacon Bits – cook your bacon to your preferred level of crispness and dice into small pieces
  • Hard boiled eggs – cook your hard boiled eggs, peel them and allow them to cool before making this recipe.
  • Ranch Dressing – use your favorite ranch dressing for these deviled eggs. I used Hidden Valley ranch for this recipe.
  • Smoked Paprika – if desired you can add a small sprinkle to your eggs before topping with bacon. The smokey flavor blends so well with the bacon ranch flavors.

How to make Bacon Ranch Deviled Eggs

Start out by hard boiling the eggs. When they are cooled, peel them and then slice them in half.

Remove the egg yolks. In a medium bowl use a fork to mash the cooked yolks. Add the creamy ranch dressing. Mix well.

Add 1 tablespoon of the bacon pieces to the egg yolk mixture.

Pipe or spoon the egg yolk mixture into the egg white halves.

Sprinkle with smoked paprika and top with any remaining bacon bits.

Other Mix-Ins:

If you are looking for a fun twist on this egg recipe try mixing in one of these:

Dijon mustard – add up to a tablespoon of Dijon mustard to give this a flavor more like classic deviled eggs.

Green Onions – top each deviled egg with a few pieces of thinly sliced green onions before you sprinkle on the bits of bacon.

Fresh Chives – mix in a tablespoon of thinly sliced chives into the yolk mixture.

How do you fill the eggs?

You can either use a spoon to scoop the filling into the egg whites.

Or my favorite way….use a sandwich bag to make a piping bag. These pictures will give you an idea of how to easily use a sandwich or freezer bag to make a piping bag. Of course if you have a pastry bag you can always use that.

Take a sandwich bag and fold the edges down. Stick the bag into a mug or cup. This helps to hold the filling so you can get it all the way into one of the corners. Place the filling in the bag.

Fold the bag back up and give it a twist right above the filling. You are trying to get the filling down into one corner of the bag.

Once you have the piping bag ready then simply use scissors to cut the corner off. Don’t make a big cut or else this will allow a lot of filling to come out. Gently squeeze the filling into the eggs. As you squeeze the filling out twist the bag. This will keep pushing the filling down into the corner of the plastic bag.

How to store and serve these deviled eggs:

Hard boiled, peeled eggs and the filling mix can be made 1 day in advance and stored in the refrigerator. Store the filling mix in a piping bag (important if using avocados in the mixture to keep it from going brown) or an airtight container. Spoon or pipe the filling into the egg halves when you are ready to serve them.

Store any leftover deviled eggs in the refrigerator in a covered airtight container for up to 4 days.

Can deviled eggs be frozen?

No. Freezing hard boiled eggs will cause them to become rubbery and will make the filling mix watery. Make and use them within 7 days and store them in the refrigerator.

How long can you keep deviled eggs at room temperature?

Once you add the filling, deviled eggs can be prepared up to two hours in advance if sitting at room temperature. After that they should be refrigerated. If making and serving a large number of eggs at a party or gathering it is best to put some out to serve and keep some stored in the refrigerator until needed. Swap out trays are they are emptied so you don’t have a large number of deviled eggs sitting at room temperature for hours and hours.
