My family isn’t a fan of eating leftovers. Sure they will eat some types of leftovers….pizza, tacos or spaghetti. But they often will pass on most others. I’ve got to get a bit creative with leftovers. This is one of the things I love about this recipe. It uses leftovers but no one thinks it’s a leftover.

What You’ll Love About This Recipe for Leftover Thanksgiving Turkey Sliders

  • You can turn your holiday leftovers into a whole new meal
  • It’s such an easy recipe to make
  • You don’t need to make the entire slab of rolls….make a little or make a lot
  • Everyone can add in their favorite sandwich toppings. Or leave out the ones you don’t like (yes I’m talking to all the cranberry sauce haters out there).

Ingredients for Leftover Turkey Cranberry Sliders

ingredients to make cranberry turkey sliders

You’ll need the following items to make this recipe:

  • Hawaiian Sweet Rolls – I used a 12 count package of mini slider sized dinner rolls
  • Leftover Turkey – use slices of Thanksgiving turkey leftovers for this recipe. How much you need will depend upon the thickness of the slices or pieces. Don’t have leftovers? You can easily use deli sliced turkey (about 3/4 to 1 pound of turkey)
  • Prepared Stuffing – use your favorite recipe or store bought brand of stuffing
  • Cranberry Sauce – both whole berry or jellied cranberry sauce work with this recipe. I like using my homemade cranberry sauce on these delicious sliders
  • Slices of Provolone Cheese – Provolone tastes great on these sandwiches. You may also enjoy another mild flavored cheese such as Swiss cheese, Havarti cheese or even thinly sliced creamy Brie cheese.
  • Butter – use your favorite brand of butter to make the glaze topping
  • Mustard – I’ve made this recipe with yellow mustard as well as Dijon mustard. Both taste great
  • Worcestershire Sauce – adds savory flavor to the glaze topping
  • Brown Sugar – adds sweetness to the glaze

Step 2: Top the rolls with a layer of turkey leftovers. Spread a layer of cranberry sauce and stuffing. Cover with slices of cheese. Place top half of the rolls on the sliders.

Prepare the glaze:

Step 3: In a saucepan, combine the butter, mustard, poppy seeds, Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar. Stirring often, bring the mixture to a boil.

Step 4: Use a sharp knife to slice between the rolls to separate them slightly.

Step 5: Spoon the glaze over the tops of the rolls.

Step 6: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil. Refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight.

Step 7: Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until cheese is melted. Remove foil for last 5 minutes of baking so tops of the buns brown slightly.

These sliders are best served hot out of the oven.

How to store Turkey Cranberry Sliders:

Store any leftover sliders in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

How to Reheat Turkey Sliders

You can always microwave leftover sliders to warm them back up. But I prefer to reheat them in the oven. It makes the glazed tops warm and toasty as well as melts the cheese.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Place the sliders in a baking dish or on a cookie sheet. Bake for 5 to 10 minutes or until the sliders are warm and the tops are lightly toasted.

What to Serve with Easy Turkey Sliders

  • Serve these sliders up with a bit of warmed gravy or extra cranberry sauce on the side for dipping
  • Enjoy with a side salad and some chips
  • How about about enjoying a slider with a bowl of turkey soup
  • Thanksgiving side dishes such as green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy and sweet potato casserole always taste great with these sandwiches

What types of buns are used for sliders?

There are a wide variety of small sized buns found in most local grocery stores and bakeries that are perfect for making sliders.

King’s Hawaiian rolls are popular for making sliders. They are sweeter than dinner rolls and what was used to make this recipe. If you prefer you can swap these out for other mini rolls, small burger buns, sub rolls, dinner rolls and even fancier brioche buns.

Can I Make This Recipe Even If I Don’t Have Thanksgiving Leftovers?

Yes, you can! If you don’t have Thanksgiving leftovers on hand you can easily use items found in your local grocery store.

Swap out the leftover turkey for slices of deli turkey. I like to purchase slice meat from the deli rather than the prepackaged deli meat. Doing this will allow you to ask the person working at the deli counter to slice the turkey into thicker pieces.

Swap out homemade stuffing for a box of prepared stuffing mix such as StoveTop stuffing. Choose your favorite flavor such as turkey or savory herbs.

Swap out homemade leftover cranberry sauce for your favorite canned cranberry sauce.
