Homemade Canned Tomato Sauce

Oh what was I thinking when I bought all those tomatoes! I picked up the tomatoes on Monday while it was pouring rain and started in on making homemade salsa. Tuesday rolled around and 1 case worth had been blanched, peeled, seeded and chopped. 20 pints and a bunch of hours later there were still about 2 cases of tomatoes left. Quick Refrigerator Pickles

My little bag garden is slowly churning out pickling and slicing cucumbers along with a few other assorted veggies and berries. Peppers are now growing and, hopefully, the zucchini and butternut squash will produce. They have lots of flowers but nothing much seems to be happening. Finding A Local Farmer’s Market

  Can’t wait. My local farmer’s market will be opening this weekend. Besides farm fresh veggies and native strawberries, which are finally in season, my local market has a wide variety of products available. There’s locally made cheese, eggs from free range chickens, grassfed beef and pastured pork. There is a vendor offering freshly caught fish and shellfish, several with baked goodies (cupcakes, cookies and bread), a soapmakers and even locally made wine. New vendors seem to come […] read more
