Pretzels – use mini pretzels to make these as bite sized treats.

Candy Coating, Candy Melts or Candy Wafers – these easy to melt discs of chocolate or white chocolate can be used as they are or colored with candy coloring. You can find them in your local craft store as well as Walmart. You’ll want white candy melts since it can be colored to make a variety of Halloween pretzel monsters.

Chocolate Chips – you’ll use the melted chocolate chips to create your owl pretzels. You can also use Dark Chocolate, Chocolate candy melts instead.

Chocolate Food Coloring – be sure to look for food coloring made for chocolate. Some food colorings are water based and the addition of water will cause the chocolate to harden. Food coloring made for chocolate will prevent that from happening. You’ll need orange and purple food coloring.

Candy – you’ll want to use a variety of candy and toppings to decorate your Halloween monster pretzels. These include candy eyes, Skittles and festive sprinkles.

Colored Sugar – look for coarse colored sugar, often called sanding sugar, in the bakery department. Look for white or a colored sugar to match the Halloween themed pretzels. Orange for pumpkins, purple for monsters, white for ghosts and gold for the owls.
