Everything But The Bagel Keto Cheese Chips Recipe (Cheese Crisps)

Looking for a crunchy keto chip to snack on or to enjoy with your favorite dip? Then whip up a batch of these super easy to make Keto Cheese Chips also known as cheese crisps.

The great thing about these cheese chips is you can mix and match different varieties of cheese to change up the flavor. For these chips we used our Everything But The Bagel Seasoning mix. It’s a delicious combination of sesame seeds, poppyseeds, coarse salt as well as onion and garlic bits. The seasoning mix can be quickly mixed up at home or you can also look for it in your local stores or online.

Can’t find it in the stores? They are also available on Amazon: Everything Bagel Seasoning Mix

If you need seasoning mixes with less salt then check out this low sodium version of Everything Bagel Seasoning Mix (Amazon Links).

Ingredients needed for this recipe are super simple:

1 to 3 slices of cheese – use your favorite type of cheese. We like to use sliced cheddar cheese, pepper jack cheese and even muenster cheese.

Everything But the Bagel Seasoning Mix – make your own mix at home or try one of the store bought mixes shown above. The mix has become more common and you can most likely find a bottle of this seasoning mix in the spice aisle in just about every grocery store.

How to make these Keto Cheese Chips (aka Keto Cheese Crisps)

This recipe is super easy to make.

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or use a silicon baking mat. Don’t try to make these without a lined baking sheet (parchment or the silicone mat) or the cheese will stick to the pan.

To make bite sized cheese chips you will want to break each slice of cheese into 4 pieces. This size is also the perfect size to use as a dipping chip.

placing pieces of sliced cheese on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Sprinkle the seasoning mix evenly over all the slices.

There’s no set amount to put on each chip. I put a pinch or two of seasoning on each square of cheese.

Placing a pinch of seasoning mix on each square of cheese

Bake for 5 to 7 minutes or until the edges begin to brown.

The baking time will vary from oven to oven. If you undercook them they will just be melted cheese. You will want to keep a close eye on them so they can bake long enough to become crisp. Once the edges begin to brown they can quickly get over cooked.

Remove them from the oven as soon as you see the edges beginning to brown.

Remove the cheese chips from the oven as soon as the edges begin to brown.

Allow them to cool so they become firm and crispy. If you try to remove them while they are still hot they will be too soft and just end up bending and stretching out.

If you are making more than one baking sheet worth of cheese chips you will want to rotate your pan. I have found that if you don’t allow the pan to cool between batches the chips will cook up quicker and may burn.

To avoid this problem I use 2 or more pans to make them. I bake one sheet while allowing the other pan to cool off before using again.

What kind of cheese can I use to make these keto cheese chips?

For the chips above I used slices of pepper jack cheese. This also works will with cheddar cheese slices, Swiss cheese, muenster, Colby slices and other slices of firm cheese.

These keto cheese chips (also known as cheese crisps) are a great low carb snack. They are perfect for those on a keto diet. Eat them as they are or serve with your favorite dip.

How do you store these keto cheese chips?

While you can store extras in the refrigerator they will lose their crisp texture and they will become soft and chewy. These are best when freshly made and eaten. My suggestion is to only make as much as you need for the moment.

Can I freeze keto cheese chips?

No they don’t do well with freezing. They will not stay nice and crisp. You’ll find that these keto cheese crisps are best freshly made.

What is Everything But The Bagel Seasoning?

Everything But The Bagel (also called Everything Bagel seasoning) is the seasoning mix you find on top of bagels.

It s combination of pretty much everything that you would find on top of bagels….. sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried onion bits, dried garlic bits and coarse salt. It’s delicious and tastes great on top of these keto cheese chips.

The great thing about this seasoning is you can either make it at home (try this recipe for Everything But The Bagel Seasoning) or you can purchase it at local grocery stores or online (see the Amazon links above).
