Instructions

To Make Heart Shaped Shortbread Cookies:

  • Cut the cold butter into tiny cubes. Add the butter and sugar to a large stand mixing bowl with a paddle attachment and mix on medium speed until combined.
1 cup butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • On low speed, slowly add 1.5 cups of the flour to the bowl until mostly combined. Pause to scrape the sides. The mixture should be crumbly but somewhat combined.
    2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Sprinkle ¼ cup of the remaining flour onto a clean surface. Transfer the cookie dough onto the surface and knead until a soft playdough like consistency forms. Add the remaining flour if necessary. The dough should not be sticky.
  • Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill for 30 min.
  • Preheat the oven to325 degrees F. Once the cookie dough has chilled, place on a floured surface. Rollout until dough is approximately ¼ inch thick. Use a cookie cutter to cut out heart shaped cookies.
  • Place on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 13 minutes. Cookies should be just slightly brown on the bottom. Careful not to overcook.

To Make The Valentines Day Dessert Board:

  • Prepare the buttercream frosting by mixing in several drops of food dye to create a light pink frosting.
1 1/2 cups Ready To Use Buttercream Frosting, Pink Food Dye
  • Pipe several heart shapes on your board. How many you make will depend upon the size of your board. Fill the heart shapes in with additional frosting. Use a spatula and smooth out the frosting.
  • Add in the paper cups or small bowls with the candies and sprinkles on the charcuterie board.
4 ounces Red M&M's, Holiday Colored Sprinkles
  • Begin to arrange small piles of cookies and pretzels around the paper cups. Be sure to leave some larger sized gaps on the board so you can add in the fruit.

  • Fill in the gaps between the cookies with the fresh fruit.
6 ounces strawberries, 6 ounces Raspberries
