Preheat your air fryer according to the manufacturers directions.
In a large bowl mix together the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Stir to combine.
Place the cold butter slices into the flour mixture. Using your hands, fork or a pastry cutter, work the cold butter into the biscuits. It will resemble crumbly dough and you will see bits of butter spread throughout.
Add the milk and butter milk to the flour mixture. Stir until just combined. You don’t want to overwork the dough.
Sprinkle some flour on to a dry surface. Turn the dough out of the bowl onto the floured surface. Pat the dough out into a circle.
Using a biscuit cutter or a glass cut the biscuits out of the dough. Roll the scraps of dough together and continue to cut out biscuits.
Place the biscuits in the air fryer basket leaving some space between them and brush the melted butter on the biscuits.
Cook in the air fryer at 390 degrees for 9 minutes.
