Here’s what you’ll need to make these pretzel Rolo treats.

Ingredients for Rolo Pretzel Bites:

ingredients for this rolo pretzel recipe

Mini pretzels – we like to use the square pretzels as it is the perfect size for a one bite treat.

Rolo Candies – You’ll want one unwrapped rolo candy for each pretzel. You can get a 7.6 ounce bag of unwrapped Rolo candies (about 35 pieces) or foil wrapped 10 ounces bags (about 50 pieces) at your local grocery store.

Pecan Halves – pecans add a delicious flavor to these treats. See below for other swaps you can make.

Parchment Paper: this is optional but it makes clean up a breeze so I like to use it.

How to make Rolo Bites:

It doesn’t get any easier than this. You might actually spend more time unwrapping the candies then you will making this recipe!

Preheat the oven: Set it to 300°F.

Arrange the pretzels: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat if desired. Lay the pretzels in a single layer on the baking sheet.

Top with Rolo candies: Place one unwrapped Rolo on top of each pretzel.

Bake: Pop the cookie sheet in the preheated oven for 3–5 minutes, just until the Rolo caramel candies start to soften. Keep an eye on them. They should be soft, not melted.

Add the topping: Immediately press a pecan half on top of each Rolo, gently pressing down to flatten the candy. Press just enough for the candy to spread and the pecan to stick.

Cool: Let the treats cool on the baking sheet for 15–20 minutes, then transfer them to the fridge to set completely.

Tips for Success:

  • Use parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking.
  • Don’t overheat the Rolos! A few minutes is all you need. If they melt too much, they’ll lose their shape and melt all over the pretzel. You only want them soft enough for them to flatten a bit and the pecan to stick.
  • Get creative with toppings – Instead of pecans, try crushed peppermint, sea salt flakes, red and green m&m candies, Reese’s pieces, mini marshmallows or holiday sprinkles for a festive twist.

Recipe Swaps and Variations

  • Dairy-Free Option – Substitute the Rolos with a dairy-free chocolate caramel candy, and double-check your pretzel brand for no hidden dairy.
  • Nut-Free Version – Skip the pecans and use colorful sprinkles or candies like M&M’s for topping instead. Swap out the pecan for a second pretzel to create a little pretzel sandwich.
  • Graham Cracker Base – Swap out salty pretzels for graham crackers for a sweeter, s’mores-like treat.
  • Chocolate Base – Place a square of chocolate instead of Rolos for a simpler but equally indulgent variation. Use your favorite type of chocolate – milk, semi sweet, dark or even white chocolate.
  • Pretzels – you can swap out the square pretzels for ones that have a more traditional pretzel shape. Try using mini pretzels instead to keep these as one bite treats.

Storage:

Store any leftover pretzel bites in an airtight container, at room temperature for up to 7 days.
